Week 3

Meditation

This week during our daily meditation we are asked to relax. Most of us feel the stress of daily life and forget to take the time to relax. Learning to rest and relax refreshes our mind and our body and helps us make better decisions. Try this for 15-20 minutes today.

~ For your exercise this week, I will ask you to go one step further. I want you to not only be perfectly still, and inhibit all thought as far as possible, but relax, let go, let the muscles take their normal condition; this will remove all pressure from the nerves, and eliminate that tension which so frequently produces physical exhaustion.~

Stretching your imagination

Week 10

For your exercise this week, In your mind, draw a black square. Try to see the square perfectly; when you can do so draw a circle within the square; now place a point in the center of the circle; now draw the point toward you about 10 inches; now you have a cone on a square base; you will remember that your work was all in black; change it to white, to red, to yellow.

These exercises are about stretching our imagination. When we use this same process to concentrate on solutions to our troubles, we begin to get answers.

So many people see a problem ahead and imagine the worst possible outcome. But when we think about and concentrate on the way we would like things to happen instead, we somehow get pointed in that direction.

Happy Place

Week 5

In our exercise this week we are going to take our 15-20 minutes of quiet time and being still and in our minds and go your “Happy Place”. Choose a place that you have fond memories of, or a place you wish to visit. It could be a beach and water, a field of flowers, or a forest stream. If you don’t have a happy please, create one.

When you are able to visualize your happy place, it can calm you down and help you to restore balance – you can be alone or visualize someone you admire with you. You may even seek advice for something that is troubling you.

Now, go to your room, take the same seat, the same position as heretofore, and mentally select a place which has pleasant associations. Make a complete mental picture of it, see the buildings, the grounds, the trees, friends, associations, everything complete. At first, you will find yourself thinking of everything under the sun, except the ideal upon which you desire to concentrate. But do not let that discourage you. Persistence will win, but persistence requires that you practice these exercises every day without fail.
